Details  show the gold panels and three dimensional butterflies dangling from silk cord ribbon.

The godets consisted of three layers of silk chiffon.  The navy layer was edged in machine embroidered scallops.  I used Sulky "Heat Away" stabilizer which worked beautifully.

Tiny silk roses decorate the straps and the points of the golden panels.  The back zipper posed a problem since the opening was not low enough for the model to get into the dress, so I followed the line of the  bodice and zig zaged the zipper to the end of the purple points.as shown at right.

Hi to all,
Fall is officially history and winter is here.  The highlight of  fall was my trip to the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals  Educational Conference in Portland, OR.  What a beautiful area!

I took an all day class on Color taught by the expert on the subject, Nancy Nix-Rice.  What fun and I learned so much.  I found I was wearing clothes that were not the most flattering color for my hair and skin color.  The bonus was that I love the colors that are now "mine."  I got rid of most of the "wrong" choices and added wonderful exciting colors that have gotten a positive response, even from those who had no idea what I had done differently.  If you ever have a chance to take one of Nancy's classes, by all means do so.

I've been working on my Master Sewing and Design Professionals Certification. Now that doesn't sound like fun, but if you are a designer and sewer it is!  It is work too, lots of it.  There are 7 modules to this certification, Fit, Garment Construction, Fashion Illustration, Pattern Development, Fabrics, and Business practices.  I have just one module left to do, which is Pattern Development.   When I've completed this I will be one of the first in the nation to do so.  I hope that with this certification I'll be able to offer moe services and even higher qualtity work to my clients.

I'm looking forward to teaching in April in beautiful Cincinnati.  My classes Alterations for Professionals and Bridal & Formalwear will be hosted by Banasch's.  This is such a popular class and venue.  The staff at Banasch's are wonderful.

Just a little hint.......the spring will bring a new book on CD.  "Alterations for the Home Sewer."
So watch this website, my facebook and my newsletter for the release date.

Sincerely,
Linda
